Trailing indicators are great – they tell you what has worked, they help you to refine processes and fix things that are broken in your current processes. These are invaluable attributes that make them an essential part of your marketing mix. Klout score, PageRank, stock price, AdAge 150 listing, web analytics data – all of these are very effective at telling you what has happened.
The problem is, if you’re looking for what is going to happen, what the clues are to the future, and how you can be ahead of the competition, none of these numbers will be of help. Here’s an obvious example: Spotify.

It is against human nature.
It is against Internet Culture.
It is against the reality of how many people — writers, actors, performers, singers, artists — choose to identify themselves to everyone or to different market segments.
The Real Name policy should be dropped.
And Google has to right all the damage it has done.
It has broken trust. That is the mortal sin of the 21st century.

“Politicians understand a clear legal majority,” he says. “And in the Senate, there would be majority representation of constituencies that have legal medical marijuana and supported it. And that would definitely be of assistance for getting laws passed on a federal level once it got to the Senate.”

Did you unexpectedly have your heart broken by a really Hot Young Lady Search Engine who left you for a more brooding, buffer, Bad Boy Search Engine in Search Engine High School, thus making it difficult for you to trust others? Because we’ll be honest, you seem to be constantly searching for something. Something you won’t find by tearing down the happiness of others, just to make them as miserable as you feel.

Should they just LIE and change their names to Dan Vader and Eugene Palpatine instead (as suggested by Scott Oldfield)? Is that what you want? Do you really want to create an online culture based on lies, where people regularly pretend to be somebody they’re not? What a horrible world that would be to live in.

This is not a case of Hannity splicing together soundclips to make things clearer or shorter, this is Hannity omitting audio to deliberately change the answer. Hannity was petulant when he was taken out of context, for example calling his audience Tim McVeigh wannabes, he explained that was merely him pretending to be his detractors. But Hannity is seen here doing the same on a far more important topic – the President addressing the nation on our current fiscal priorities.

Before he aired this censored clip, Hannity actually told listeners to stay tuned, because he was going to soon show that Obama was avoiding answering Jake Tapper’s question. If anything Obama was long-winded. Tapper’s question in full:

The hacking of Booz Allen Hamilton and IRC Federal had been conducted in what appeared to be a more open, inclusive manner than similar hacking activities in the past, she said.
“With every twist and turn, new possibilities have opened up.”

But apart from screwing up the lives of all the people they hacked, they also stuffed up the reputation of every other journalist who will be tarred with the same shitty brush. I’m fairly new to to the game, but I value my reputation, which Murdoch has just besmirched. In my paper last week, I took a very heavy editorial line against the local council. Now people are well within their right to ask, why should they treat me seriously, this bugger is probably hacking people’s messages.

The Communist Party, despite three decades of economic reform, insists on its monopoly of political power. And to maintain that monopoly, it tightly controls its own instrumentalities. That’s especially true at this moment because the Party is in the midst of the most comprehensive crackdown on society since the 1989 Beijing Spring. Chinese leaders clearly view social media as a threat to their rule, especially after seeing its force-multiplying effect in the ongoing Arab Spring protests that have toppled governments.
In short, China’s sovereign wealth fund, which is no more independent of the Communist Party than the Beijing municipal government, wants to buy a stake in the world’s most prominent social networking site because Chinese leaders want to control social media. And they hope to do that as part of their comprehensive campaign to dominate the conversation about China—not just inside the country but around the world as well.
